What I Do

China has a wealth of innovation and talent waiting to be discovered. As a Senior Director, I help manage investments and acquisitions with motivated startup founders and joint ventures with other leading local technology players.

What I’m Passionate About

I’m passionate about working with founders and teams that are very driven but at the same time willing to take advice. Nobody should be allergic to constructive criticism.

I have a great appreciation for architecture. Norman Foster said, “As an architect, you design for the present, with an awareness of the past for a future which is essentially unknown.” I find beauty in that quote as there are many parallels in the startup world.

One of my proudest moments at Cisco has been setting up our first true Sino-US Joint Venture.

When I’m not in the Cisco offices, there’s a good chance you can find me on the hiking trails in Hong Kong.

One of the things I love most about working at Cisco Investments is meeting all the different personalities in the startup ecosystem. These are people who dared to be bold and different, and I find them fascinating.

I love pets. Why only have one? I have three dogs and three cats. I’m thinking six pets might be my limit, though.

Where I’ve Been

My journey to Cisco has been filled with exciting events (from Big Tech to joining a startup). Through it all, I gained valuable insight into the venture world. Before Cisco, most of my investment experience came through my role as Vice President at Investor Growth Capital Asia, a venture capital fund backed by Investor AB.

Where I Learned

I earned my MBA from the Wharton School of Business. Like many of my colleagues, I have an engineering degree as well, though mine is from Simon Fraser University (SFU). Fun fact: SFU’s mountaintop location inspired the school’s architect, Arthur Erickson, to look to the Acropolis in Athens and the hill towns of Italy for ideas on how to design the school.
